Body Butter Recipes

Body butter recipes that are easy to make! I use this special recipe for my face and for dry, cracked heels.

Have you ever thought about what is in the storebought body butters that last forever? Promising to shave years off your skin it leaves you with a hole in your pocketbook and some undesirable health risks.

Home spa treatments like this homemade body butter are cheaper than the store bought version and contains no harmful chemicals. Sure they don't last as long, but I'll show you ways to extend the shelf life.

I'll show you how to make Whipped Shea Body Butter, my favorite of all body butter recipes.

I like to use it on my face. However, some may find it a little too rich for that purpose. If you have oily skin you may not want to put it on your face.

It is super rich and is great for dry skin anywhere on your body. I especially like it for dry, cracked heels. I use this lotion on my Haitian boys who have real issues with dry knees and elbows.

Using essential oils in it makes it like an aromatherapy body butter. Here are some good aromatherapy essential oils to add instead of the lavender in the recipe.

  3. Allow to sit for 15 minutes.

  5. Add lavender essential oil (if desired) during the last 5 minutes of whipping.

I've had this last 6 months or so. To extend the shelf life, store unused portion in the fridge.
Use a popsicle stick to scoop out desired amount.
Using your fingers can cause contamination.
