Common Cold Remedies
Lemon Echinacea Ginger Tea

Tea made from lemon, echinacea, ginger and honey is one of the best common cold remedies. Take this at the first signs of a cold.

Echinacea tea remedy for common cold
This is really so simple and oh, so comforting at the first signs of a cold or flu. Just how do these three simple kitchen ingredients and one common herb benefit someone coming down with a cold?

Lemon provides Vitamin C and some potassium and magnesium.

Echinacea has traditionally been used for supporting the immune system, and for anti-viral and anti-bacterial effects on our bodies.

Ginger helps stimulate the body to heal itself due to its warming actions.

Honey soothes the throat and offers a pleasant taste to the tea with plenty of minerals.

Lemon Echinacea Ginger Tea

  • 1-2 inches fresh ginger root, grated
  • 4 Tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 Tablespoon dried echinacea leaves
  • 3 Tablespoons honey or to taste

Boil enough water to fill a quart thermos bottle. Put the ginger, echinacea and lemon juice in the thermos, and fill up with boiling water.
Add honey to taste. Let sit for 15 min. Strain into your teacup and enjoy. Super simple!

Instead of using echinacea leaves you could add a couple drops of echinacea tincture to each tea cup.

This tea is best taken at the first signs of a cold or flu. Also read my tips for natural cold and flu care.
