Herbal Vinegar Rinse
Dandruff remedies that use simple ingredients from the grocery store or easy to find herbs.
The following are two types of herbal vinegar hair rinses for dandruff. One uses culinary herbs that are easy
to find. The other uses herbs that may be found either in the flower garden or in the wild. Both rinses offer antifungal properties
as well as balancing the oils on the scalp.
Culinary Herb Vinegar Rinse
What you will need
Note: You can use fresh herbs for these rinses. You will need enough to fill your jar tightly.
- 1 Tablespoon dried Sage
- 1 Tablespoon dried Oregano
- 1 Tablespoon dried Rosemary
- 1 Tablespoon dried Thyme
- 1 cup Apple Cider Vinegar
- Optional: 4 drops tea tree essential oil for every ounce of strained vinegar.
Garden Herb Vinegar Rinse
What you will need
- 1 Tablespoon dried Nettle leaf
- 1 Tablespoon dried Comfrey root
- 1 Tablespoon dried Calendula flowers
- 1 Tablespoon dried Plantain leaf
- 1 cup Apple Cider Vinegar
- Optional: 4 drops tea tree essential oil for every ounce of strained vinegar.
How to make a Vinegar Hair Rinse
- If using dried herbs - place measured dried herbs into a glass jar.
- If using fresh herbs - pack jar tightly with enough fresh herbs to fill and keep adding vinegar until well covered.
- Pour vinegar over the herbs and stir.
- Cap tightly with plastic lid. Don't use metal lid as this will react with the vinegar!
- Label jar with contents and date and store in a dark place.
- Shake daily and let steep for 2 weeks.
- Strain herb.
- Add essential oils if desired. I recommend it as it increases the anti fungal actions of the hair rinse!
To use: Massage 2 Tablespoons of either Herbal Vinegar Rinse onto scalp and hair. Leave in for a few minutes and rinse with clear water.
