Goji Berry
Lycium chinesis

goji-berry

Known also as Wolfberry, Lycium or Lycii berry, Goji Berry is considered a "super food". And for good reason.

Studies have shown it to have antioxidant effects and to be highly nutritive. It also contains vitamins B1, B2, and C, potassium and linoleic acid.

This berry boosts the immune system, helps remove toxins from the body and supports the liver, kidneys and eyes.

It has adaptogen properties. Adaptogens increase the body's ability to withstand physical, biological, emotional and environmental stressors.

It has been used as a general nurient tonic in Chinese medicine.

Mountain Rose Herbs states, "It was once said by one of our favorite published herbalists that 'Wolfberry can make the young wolf out of the old man', because for many years Lycii has been administered for erection problems."

It is part of the Nightshade family, so if there is any sensitivities to the nightshade family, this berry should not be used.

The berry is often consumed as a juice. The dried berries can be purchased from Mountain Rose Herbs , softened slightly and used in dishes. Tea can also be made from the dried berries. It has a taste similar to raisins.
