Herbal Laxative Tea

An herbal laxative tea recipe for constipation!

Also known as a "decoction".

The following medicinal herbs for constipation make into a lovely herbal tea to help things "move along".

Flax seed contains high mucilage content which helps to protect the sensitive tissues of the digestive tract as well as offer laxative effects.

Slippery Elm Bark as well contains a high mucilage content and offers laxative properties.

Chamomile helps with upset tummies and just tastes good!

Fennel seed offers a pleasant taste to this tea. It promotes gastrointestinal motility, helping things move along. Do not consume if pregnant as it has estrogenic properties!

Licorice root is traditionally used for colds and flus. Children love the flavor of licorice and is added often to child remedies. Helping with inflammation of the digestive tract is one of the many uses of this herb. Licorice offers a pleasant taste to this tea.

Constipation Tea Remedy

1 part whole flax seed

1 part slippery elm bark

1 part chamomile

2 parts fennel seed

1/2 part licorice root

Simmer a couple teaspoons of mixture in two cups of water for 15 minutes. Cover, remove from heat and let sit for another 15 min. Strain.
