Home Remedies for Headaches Lavender Baths
One of the best home remedies for headaches that are simple and effective include
relaxing herbs such as lavender and chamomile.
Enjoy these herbs in baths to ease tension headaches.
Lavender is a very potent herb
and one of my favorites for tension and stress. It is very useful in these natural headache cures.
The aromatic qualities of lavender lends itself well to baths and steams.
Chamomile is known
also for relieving stress and tension.
Oatmeal can be added to the herbal mixture as it also is soothing and relaxing.
I remember when my daughter, pregnant with her first and teaching at a nearby school,
would come over after a stressful school day. I would place some oatmeal in a muslin bag tie it
to the bath faucet and let the hot water pour through it. Sipping a cup of chamomile tea
and relaxing in that oatmeal bath eased the tensions of teaching young children all day.
Or use lavender essential oil mixed with a carrier oil as in the Lavender Oil Bath recipe below.
Try these home remedies for headaches...
Lavender Chamomile Oatmeal Bath
1 cup lavender buds
1 cup chamomile buds
1 cup oatmeal
4 drops lavender essential oil OR
2 drops chamomile essential oil
Place the above herbs in a muslin bag and drop into a tub.
Just before stepping into the tub add the essential oils.
Use a muslin bag to hold the herbs unless you enjoy picking lavender buds out from the tub and off
your skin afterwards. Trust me, it's not fun!
Lavender Oil Bath
1 oz of any carrier oil of choice (olive oil, almond oil, coconut oil, etc)
30 drops lavender essential oil
Mix oils together in a jar and shake well. Add a couple teaspoons of Lavender Oil Bath per bath. Ahhhh
