Home Remedies for Sore Throats
Throat Compress
Home remedies for sore throats can be as simple as using a scarf and some water.
Sounds too simple? Give it a try!
Similar to the sock treatment described in Home Remedies for Colds
the use of water and heat, called hydrotherapy, creates a change in the body.
This throat compress will decrease congestion in the throat and head and will offer some pain relief. It is so comforting
when suffering from a sore throat.
A few drops of eucalyptus essential oil is optional but it does help with breathing if you happen to be stuffed up as well.
What you will need:
- Thin bandana or piece of cloth
- Wool scarf
- Basin of cold water
- Warm cloth
- Eucalyptus essential oil (optional)
Follow these easy steps:
- Warm your neck with a warm cloth (or take a warm bath).
- Soak a thin bandana in cold water and add a few drops of eucalyptus essential oil. Wring it out.
- Wrap the cold bandana around your warmed neck.
- Cover with a wool scarf, tucking in the ends to keep it in place.
This sore throat remedy can be used nightly on children as well as adults. It is safe and supportive.
