Yeast Infection Treatments

Don't feel you need to do all the treatments, just pick some that seem comfortable to you. Definitely use the whole foods and natural antibiotics, however.

Echinacea Tincture
is a great herbal antibiotic. I'll show you how to make your own tincture for this immune boosting treatment.

Garlic
Garlic is a great antibiotic. Include lots of it in your diet. If you don't like the after effects of eating so much garlic, use enteric coated garlic pills. They have a special coating which won't allow the release of the garlic properties until it hits the intestines. Thus no bad garlicky breath! Garlic is also safe for pregnant women.

Una de Gato
Also known as Cat's Claw this is a great alternative to making your own herbal antibiotic. This herb grows in the rain forests of Peru and has been used for centuries for its nutritional benefits. The Ashanika Indians esteem Una de Gato tea as a sacred beverage, using it to cleanse and strengthen the immune system of the body. Do not consume if pregnant or nursing.

Pau d'arco
Also called teehebo, this bark from a tropical tree has traditionally been helpful for fungal infection. Interestingly enough, this tree doesn't develop fungal growth like other trees in the area do. Please don't take if pregnant.

Whole Foods
Consisting of light meals centered around grains, soups and plenty of veggies. Avoid sweets and alcohol as fungi feed on sugar and alcohol. Also be sure to include yogurt and acidophilus in your diet. Acidophilus helps to restore the flora balance in the vaginal area.

Apple Cider Vinegar
Drink a mixture of one teaspoon apple cider vinegar and one teaspoon honey mixed in a little warm water at every meal.

Cranberry Juice
Cranberries naturally contain hippuric acid which is antibacterial. Make sure the juice is unsweetened. Drink one cup daily.

Yogurt
This is a very effective in home remedies for yeast infections. Yogurt applied directly to the vaginal area will treat fungal overgrowth. In fact, get in the habit of taking yogurt internally on a daily basis as a preventative. A probiotic capsule can be inserted into the vagina before bed at night.

Fungicidal essential oils
Using tea tree or myrrh essential oils diluted will kill the overgrowth of yeast. Dilute a couple of drops in two teaspoons of olive oil. Apply to the infected area. Use this treatment externally only!
