Natural Cough Remedies: Wild Cherry Bark Syrup

Natural Cough Remedies

Wild Cherry Bark is the herb for natural cough remedies.
Making it into a syrup truly helps the medicine go down!

Wild Cherry Bark has traditionally been used for coughs for quite some time now. It can be made into a tea with a bit of honey for simplicity sake or made into a syrup.

I'll show you how to make it into a syrup.

What you will need

  • 1 cup wild cherry bark
  • 1 quart water
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/3 cup vegetable glycerin
  • 1 tablespoon echinacea tincture or elderberry tincture (optional)

Follow these easy steps

  1. Simmer wild cherry bark and water until it is reduced by half. (You have made a decoction!)
  2. Strain.
  3. Add the honey and glycerin while it is still warm and stir well.
  4. Add more if you would like a sweeter taste.
  5. To really make this powerful add a tablespoon echinacea tincture or an elderberry tincture or glycerite.
  6. Store in the fridge.
Adults can take a tablespoon, children a teaspoon, of the prepared Wild Cherry Bark syrup 3 or 4 times a day.
