Safety and Dosage![]() A safety consideration while reading information on Herbal Remedies At Home is determining what is safe for you in your situation. Herbs are a natural choice for remedies and they are effective, no doubt about it. However, that does not mean that herbs are without safety considerations. A person can overdose on them. They can interact with other medications and cause problems. Herbs are contraindicated in some situations. As much as I like to help people help themselves with natural remedies, there are some things that warrant the advice of a health professional, whether that be a skilled herbalist, a naturopath or a traditional doctor. Another thing to consider is dosage. Generally, the dosage on a bottle is for an average person weighing 150 lb. Many factors come into play that could affect that dosage. Such as weight and age. You do want to have the correct dosage of an herb in order for it to be effective or in order to avoid a reaction. The information I share on this site is meant as information only. I can't replace your care giver who can take necessary medical information from you to determine what herb and dosage is right for your situation. As always, one of the best remedies for any ailment is prevention. Eating whole foods, living stress free, exercising, drinking plenty of water, enjoying fresh air and loving life is necessary to achieve health and wellness. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!
