Sore Throat RemediesHere's a list of good at home sore throat remedies to soothe a sore throat.
Salt Water Gargle is one of the oldest sore throat home remedies. Simply take a glass of warm water, add a teaspoon of salt and gargle. Salt will wash away mucous and increase circulation to the inflammed area. Gargle the whole cup several times a day. Sometimes I'll add a drop or two of echinacea tincture to the water. Apple Cider Vinegar Gargle is another good one. To a glass of warm water add anywhere from a teaspoon to a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and gargle several times a day. Add a pinch of cayenne pepper if you dare, it will be extra powerful! Rinse mouth out afterwards to get rid of the acid on your teeth. Marshmallow Root Tea is made from the root of the marshmallow plant. Add two teaspoons to a cup of boiling water. The mucilage in marshmallow root soothes and coats a sore throat. Slippery Elm Lozenges Slippery Elm herb contains mucilage. Mucilage helps soothe a sore throat. These are really easy to make, and the kids will enjoy helping out!
