Treatments For RosaceaMany skin conditions indicate a problem with the liver and the gut so looking at helping these areas will help with the underlying causes of rosacea. Most often, antibiotics are prescribed with skin conditions but I have a problem with this because of the overuse of antibiotics and the problems that causes. Look at these natural treatments for rosacea. Whole Food Looking at your diet is important when looking at treatments for rosacea. Eat plenty of fiber, fresh vegetables and its juices to absorb important minerals, Eat plenty of foods that contain the important B vitamins (which many of us are low on, rosacea or not!) brown rice, oats, brewers yeast, whole grain sprouted or sourdough bread. Avoid foods that are spicy, fatty, and sugary. Also, foods that contain essential fatty acids, such as flax seeds and good quality fish. Eat yogurt daily to help restore proper intestinal flora. Milk Thistle Since many skin conditions indicate an overtaxed liver, it stands to reason to help support the liver function and to help it detoxify. Look for a milk thistle product that contains 80-85 % silymarin. No contraindications known for milk thistle. Burdock Root Burdock is often the herb to go to for skin conditions. Clinical studies also show it to help with regulating the intestinal flora. Make this into a tea or take in capsule form. No contraindications known for burdock root. B-Complex Vitamin and B12 Supplements Bring up the levels of these vitamins in your system to help with flare-ups of rosacea. If stress is one of your triggers then these vitamins will also help calm you down. Digestive enzymes These enhance the digestive process, with the additional support of natural food enzymes, by supplementing the natural production of hydrochloric acid, bile salts and digestive enzymes. Probiotics Problems in the gut leading to rosacea can also benefit from a healthy dose of good bacteria! Replenish the good bacteria in the gut with probiotics. Aloe Vera Gel Apply this externally, it is very soothing for the skin. It also has anti inflammatory effects. Many find that the reddened skin is highly sensitive so try it on a small area first. You can grow an aloe plant in your home. Just cut a small piece of the plant off and squeeze out the gel. Calendula Salve Calendula is another good herb to apply externally. Calendula is soothing and anti-inflammatory for the skin. Chamomile Tea Bags Brew up some chamomile tea using a bag and boiling water. Let it cool and apply to the welts and reddened areas. Very soothing with great anti-inflammatory effects! You can get burdock root at Mountain Rose Herbs
